From Bollywood to Hollywood: Boman Irani’s Directorial Debut with Oscar-Winning ‘Birdman’ Writer

Popular Bollywood actor Boman Irani is making his directorial debut with “The Mehta Boys. Irani’s career spans diverse films like “Let’s Talk”, “Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.”, and “3 Idiots”.

At the Cinevesture International Film Festival, Irani disclosed that “The Mehta Boys” screenplay is co-written with Alexander Dinelaris, the Academy Award-winning writer of “Birdman.”

The film tells the story of a father and son facing a 48-hour challenge where they can’t stand each other. Irani shared insights on collaborating with Dinelaris and the emotional connection to the script.

Despite facing initial doubts due to the writer’s lack of credits, Irani stuck with Dinelaris. The project, initially considered small, turned into an Oscar-winning endeavor, showcasing the power of belief and dedication.

“The Mehta Boys” has wrapped up post-production and features a talented cast, including Irani, Avinash Tiwary, and Shreya Chaudhry. The film will debut in theaters following a festival premiere.
