Luxury home entertainment tech company Kaleidescape is expanding into the cinema business to make library titles more accessible in theaters, creating revenue opportunities for content owners and exhibitors.
Classic film rereleases could generate ancillary revenue for studios and theaters, especially during off-peak hours. A 2022 Cinema Foundation survey shows that there is interest in theatrical presentations of films from various decades.
Successful rereleases like “Stop Making Sense” and “Avatar” with tie-ins to upcoming releases have shown promising results in generating revenue at the box office.
Other successful reissues include films like “Titanic,” “The Godfather,” and “Jaws.” Kaleidescape is beginning a pilot program with various theaters and has signed its first major studio content provider.
