Bloodsport is a 1988 action film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme in his lead role debut. The story follows an American soldier in Hong Kong who participates in an illegal kickboxing competition called the Kumite. The intense finale features a showdown between Van Damme and the reigning Kumite champion, Bolo Yeung. Despite lacking in production values, the film excels in violent action sequences. The script is inspired by the real-life experiences of martial arts expert Frank Dux, who also worked as the fight coordinator for the movie. A sequel titled Bloodsport 2 was released in 1995.
