The Split of ‘Lord of the Rings’ Owner Embracer Into Three Standalone Publicly Listed Entities

The Embracer Group is undergoing a split into three standalone entities: Asmodee, Coffee Stain & Friends, and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.

Asmodee focuses on tabletop games, Coffee Stain & Friends on indie and premium games, and Middle-earth Enterprises on AAA game development.

The restructuring plan involves distributing shares of Asmodee and Coffee Stain to Embracer Group shareholders and listing them on Nasdaq Stockholm. Middle-earth Enterprises will remain under Embracer Group.

The split has received support from over 50% of Embracer Group shareholders. Embracer’s founder and CEO, Lars Wingefors, intends to establish a new ownership structure for the entities.

Each entity will have new leadership, and Embracer will retain a significant stake in all three. The move aims to unlock shareholder value and allow the entities to focus on their core strategies.

The decision is seen as vital for the future success of the companies and will provide distinct equity stories for shareholders. The aim is to facilitate continued growth and success in the evolving entertainment industry.
