Film Toy Story (1995)

Toy Story, released in 1995, was the first feature-length film entirely animated by computer. Despite this, the film is filled with warmth and heart as any Disney cartoon. The protagonist, Woody, a pull-string cowboy toy belonging to a boy named Andy, faces rivalry from a high-tech, space-ranger toy, Buzz Lightyear.

Their rivalry intensifies when Andy’s toy’s well-being is threatened by a next-door neighbor, Sid, who enjoys reconstructing his toys into hideous mutants. The film showcases superb computer animation and voice-over performances by celebrities including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Don Rickles. Director John Lasseter earned a special achievement Academy Award, whilst Randy Newman was awarded an Oscar nomination for his evocative musical score.

Toy Story has been rated G by the MPAA and falls under genres including action, adventure, children’s/family, and comedy.
