FanDuel Adjusts Super Bowl LVIII Ad Campaign Following Carl Weathers’ Death

FanDuel is “adjusting” their Super Bowl LVXIII campaign featuring Carl Weathers following the actor’s death.
Weathers was an iconic talent with a profound impact on and off the screen.
FanDuel’s original ad features Weathers and four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.

Following the death of The Mandalorian co-star Carl Weathers, FanDuel revealed their intention to adjust their Super Bowl LVXIII campaign featuring the late actor.
FanDuel said in a statement posted to their official X, formerly Twitter, account.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Carl Weathers.
Throughout his life, Carl was an iconic talent who had a profound impact on the people he worked with on and off the screen.

Fan Duel’s Super Bowl LVXIII commercial, which reveals Weathers riding up on a motorcycle near the end, also features the four-time Super Bowl champ, Rob Gronkowski.

Unfortunately, FanDuel does not specify how the company intends to modify their Super Bowl LVXIII campaign and the Carl Weathers ad.

Weathers is best known for portraying boxer Apollo Creed in the Rocky film franchise, which led to a number of high-profile jobs.
In 1987, Weathers got to portray the bad guy, Dillon, in the sci-fi action film, Predator.
A year later, Weathers portrayed the titular hero in Action Jackson.

Weathers portrayed Adam Sandler’s mentor, Chubbs Peterson, in 1996’s Happy Gilmore.

In 2004, Weathers played himself on Arrested Development.
Modern-day audiences are probably most familiar with Weathers’ work on The Mandalorian.
