Kanunsuz Topraklar is set in 1939 in a mining town in Zonguldak. The mine owner, Malik, exploits the system to amass wealth. The protagonist, Davut, accidentally shoots Malik. In a surprising turn of events, Malik offers Davut protection in exchange for doing his dirty work. Davut agrees with the intent to dismantle the corrupt system.
