Luc Besson Set to Direct Modern ‘Dracula’ Adaptation Starring Caleb Landry Jones and Christoph Waltz

Luc Besson is set to direct a modern adaptation of ‘Dracula,’ starring Caleb Landry Jones and Christoph Waltz. The film will tell the story of 15th century Prince Vladimir, who becomes a vampire after cursing God following his wife’s death. In 19th century London, he encounters his wife’s doppelgänger.

Christoph Waltz and Caleb Landry-Jones are in talks to star in the film, which seeks to be Besson’s comeback. EuropaCorp, Besson’s production company, is currently in discussions with buyers about the project during the European Film Market.

EuropaCorp also has other projects in the pipeline, including “Weekend Escape Project,” an action thriller set in Taiwan starring Luke Evans and Gwei Lun-mei. Besson’s previous film, “Dogman,” premiered at Venice last year and was released in France in September.

The film, starring Landry Jones, was acquired for the U.S. and grossed $3 million in France. The upcoming “Dracula” adaptation signals a shift for Besson into epic fantasy territories, departing from his usual action-thriller and sci-fi genre.
