Iconic Filmmakers’ Restored Classics Headline Hong Kong Film Festival

The Hong Kong International Film Festival is set to screen restored classic films from iconic filmmakers such as Ernst Lubitsch, Stanley Kubrick, and Roman Polanski. Lubitsch’s 1920 farce “Kohlhiesel’s Daughters” will be presented with live music accompaniment, Kubrick’s “Fear and Desire” will showcase nine minutes of previously deleted footage, and Polanski’s “The Pianist” presents a Nazi occupation tale.

Other selected films include Michelangelo Antonioni‘s “Il Grido,” Manoel d’Oliveria’s “Madame Bovary” adaptation “Abraham’s Valley,” Arturo Ripstein’s director’s cut of “Deep Crimson,” Jacques Rivette’s “L’Amour Fou,” and “The Dupes” by Tewfik Saleh.

In other news, Screentime New Zealand will adapt the hit property format “Location, Location, Location” in association with AA Insurance. The long-running series has been commissioned by TVNZ and will air in New Zealand for the first time, marking its seventh version. The format has aired for 28 seasons on U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 and Denmark’s TV2 has had 14 seasons.

Additionally, a trailer has been released for Bollywood film “Shaitaan,” starring Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Jyotika. The film follows a family retreat that takes a nightmarish turn when they let a friendly but mysterious stranger into their house. “Shaitaan” is due for a worldwide theatrical release on March 8 and is produced by Devgn Films and Panorama Studios, among others.
