Saint Laurent Joins Jacques Audiard’s ‘Emilia Perez’ with Zoe Saldana

After making its debut at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, Anthony Vaccarello‘s Saint Laurent Productions has boarded Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Perez” as a co-producer.

The musical thriller joins Saint Laurent Productions’ roster of prestige projects, including films from renowned directors Paolo Sorrentino, David Cronenberg, Abel Ferrara, Wong Kar Wai, Jim Jarmusch, and Gaspar Noé.

“Emilia Perez” features an international cast led by Karla Sofia Gascón, Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez, Edgar Ramirez, and Adriana Paz.

The movie is co-produced with Why Not Productions, Page 114, Pathé, and France 2 Cinema, with Pathé acquiring French distribution rights.

Audiard describes the film as an “opera libretto in four acts,” starring Gascón as a Mexican cartel leader who undergoes a sex change to escape the law.

The director enlisted composer Clement Ducol, singer/composer Camille, and choreographer Damien Jalet. Vaccarello designed the costumes.

Saint Laurent Productions is the first film production company by a fashion house, providing Vaccarello a platform to expand Saint Laurent’s vision through film.

Vaccarello sees film as an art form with lasting impact compared to seasonal collections, venturing into another field of creativity.
