Article 20″ Dominates China Box Office, While “Argylle” Faces Disappointing Weekend flop

The Chinese box office was dominated by “Article 20” over the latest weekend, followed by “Pegasus 2,” “YOLO,” and “Boonie Bears: Time Twist.”
The impressive performance of these films has brought the year-to-date box office close to that of 2023.
“Article 20” led the pack with $40.1 million over the weekend, pushing its total earnings to $290 million.
“Pegasus 2” gathered $35.6 million, reaching a cumulative total of $432 million.
“YOLO” slipped to third place with $25.2 million but remains the top scorer of the holiday season with $463 million.
“Boonie Bears: Time Twist” earned $22.5 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise.
Other Lunar New Year releases struggled, leading to some being withdrawn early for a potential re-release in better conditions.

In contrast, “Argylle” faced disappointment in China, earning only $1.4 million for its opening weekend. Despite this setback, the year-to-date Chinese box office has reached $1.89 billion, just slightly behind the same point in 2023.
