Switzerland’s Locarno Film Festival will celebrate Columbia Pictures centennial with a retrospective of classic films curated by Ehsan Khoshbakht.
The event, titled “The Lady With the Torch –– The Centenary of Columbia Pictures,” will showcase iconic American films from the studio’s golden age.
Sony’s generosity will bring new restorations of films to Locarno, highlighting both well-known auteurs and lesser-known genre filmmakers.
The retrospective will travel worldwide after launching from Locarno, offering a glimpse into the richly creative era of American cinema.
Locarno’s artistic director Giona A. Nazzaro expressed pride in the celebration being a journey through American cinema’s masterpieces, new discoveries, and classics.
The 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival will be held from August 7-17, solidifying its place as Europe’s premier indie cinema event.
