Celebrating Excellence: Walter Hill Honored with 2024 WGAW Laurel Award for Screenwriting

Hill is known for his work on films like “The Getaway,” “48 Hrs.,” “Last Man Standing” and “Dead For A Dollar.”

WGAW president Meredith Stiehm praised Hill’s impact on the industry and his enduring career.

Beginning his career in the 1970s, Hill wrote and directed films like “Hard Times” and “The Warriors,” which gained a cult following.

He has also worked in the Western genre, directing films like “The Long Riders” and “Geronimo.”

Hill’s writing credits include projects such as “Streets of Fire,” “The Driver,” “Red Heat,” and “The Assignment.”

In 2022, Hill was honored at the Venice International Film Festival with the Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award for his film “Dead for a Dollar.”
