Christopher Walken Returns in ‘Dune 2’ After Four-Year Hiatus and Reflects on ‘Star Wars’ Screen Test with Jodie Foster

Christopher Walken is returning to the big screen in ‘Dune: Part Two’ after a four-year hiatus. He plays Shaddam IV in the movie.

Walken shared his excitement for the project, praising the first ‘Dune’ and director Denis Villeneuve’s work. He was drawn to the stellar cast and the beautiful filming location in Budapest.

The movie also gives Walken the chance to star in a major Hollywood sci-fi epic, a dream he once chased when auditioning for Han Solo in the original ‘Star Wars.’

Interestingly, during the ‘Star Wars’ audition, Walken’s partner was Jodie Foster, who was reading for Princess Leia. Foster had to decline the role due to a conflicting contract with a Disney movie, possibly ‘Freaky Friday.’

Although Walken didn’t land the role in ‘Star Wars,’ he went on to star in acclaimed movies like ‘Annie Hall’ and ‘The Deer Hunter,’ winning an Oscar. He reflected that it was probably for the best he didn’t get those roles.

‘Dune: Part Two’ is currently showing in theaters nationwide, offering audiences the chance to see Christopher Walken back on the silver screen.
