Christopher Walken Returns to Acting in ‘Dune 2’ After Four-Year Hiatus and Recounts ‘Star Wars’ Screen Test with Jodie Foster as Leia

Christopher Walken makes a comeback in ‘Dune: Part Two,’ offering his talents as Shaddam IV, the Padishah Emperor. He was enticed by the stellar cast and the opportunity to star in a major sci-fi epic. Walken reminisced about his past audition for ‘Star Wars’ as Han Solo, sharing that he even tested alongside Jodie Foster. Foster, who was considered for Princess Leia, had to decline the role due to prior commitments with a Disney movie. As history unfolded, Carrie Fisher became Leia while Harrison Ford claimed the iconic role of Han Solo. Despite missing out on ‘Star Wars,’ Walken’s career thrived, leading him to successful projects like ‘Annie Hall’ and ‘The Deer Hunter,’ which earned him an Oscar. Despite past auditions for big films, Walken reflects that missing out was perhaps for the best. Now, fans can catch Walken in ‘Dune: Part Two,’ currently showing in theaters nationwide courtesy of Warner Bros.
