Coppola’s highly anticipated film “Megalopolis” is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17. The star-studded cast includes Shia LaBeouf, Adam Driver, and Forest Whitaker among others.
This passion project has been in the works since the 1980s, with Coppola investing over $100 million into the production. Cannes director Thierry Fremaux expressed his excitement to have the legendary director back at the festival.
The film’s plot remains mysterious, described as an epic story set in an alternate reality version of New York City named “New Rome.” Coppola drew inspiration from Ancient Rome for the project, highlighting themes of political ambition and conflicted love.
