Dynamic Duo: Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s New Genre Film Secures Deal with Warner Bros. in Intense Bidding War

After a heated bidding war, Warner Bros. won the rights to the latest collaboration from writer-director-producer Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan.

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group’s Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy confirmed the studio has landed a deal untitled movie, based on an original script by Coogler. Details about the picture are being kept under wraps but it has been described as an “original genre film.”

The new movie marks Coogler and Jordan’s fifth collaboration, beginning with “Fruitvale Station” and continuing with the “Creed” and “Black Panther” franchises. De Luca and Abdy also have a successful track record with the duo, as they greenlit “Creed III” during their tenure at MGM.

Coogler is repped by WME, Charles King at M88 and attorney Jonathan Gardner. Jordan is repped by WME and Phil Sun at M88.

Deadline was first to report news of the developing project.
