Exciting Conclusion: Directors Factory Philippines Completes Filming for Cannes

“Directors Factory Philippines,” an omnibus film project by Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, finished production in Dapitan, Philippines.

Since 2013, the Directors’ Factory mentors eight budding filmmakers yearly. This year, four co-written and co-directed short films will screen in May at the Directors’ Fortnight.

Dapitan, in the Zamboanga Peninsula, is a tourism hub famous for Jose Rizal’s exile and shrines.

Films by pairs like “Walay Balay”, “Nightbirds”, “Silig”, and “Cold Cut” were directed by filmmakers from the Philippines, Malaysia, India, and more.

The post-production stage for the films moves to Quezon City with support from the Quezon City Film Commission.

Efforts are ongoing to fund the eight directors’ trip to Cannes, where they will present their short films and pitch their feature projects.
