Exciting News: ‘Superman: Legacy’ Set to Start Filming Next Week, Studio Chief David Zaslav Shares Optimism

Exciting news has been shared by Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO, David Zaslav, about the commencement of filming for James Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy” next week.

Director Gunn recently posted an image on Instagram of the full cast following a table read, expressing his excitement for the upcoming film.

Zaslav expressed optimism for the future of the studio, despite recent underperformance, and is hopeful for positive results in the upcoming years.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s CFO, Gunnar Wiedenfels, acknowledged the challenges faced by the film studio, particularly in the superhero genre, and highlighted the need for hit-driven content.

The recent offerings from the studio, like “The Color Purple” and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” faced difficulties in finding success, as noted by Wiedenfels.

“Superman: Legacy” features David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, set for a release on July 11, 2025. Gunn and producer Peter Safran are leading the project, which marks the beginning of the DC Universe reboot.
