One of the best medium-budgeted science fiction flicks of the 1950s. Set in the future of 1973, a rescue ship travels to Mars to retrieve Col Ed Carruthers, the only survivor of a space probe. Accused of murder but claims a Martian monster did it. Ed signs up for a second journey to prove the creature exists. Crew members are killed off by a monster aboard, the descendant of an ancient Martian civilization. The creature survives by absorbing body fluids and seems unstoppable.
If the plot seems familiar, it inspired the 1979 classic Alien.
