“The Fifth Element” is a visually striking science fiction epic set in the 23rd century Earth. Scientists gather in Egypt in 1914 at the site of an event that transpired centuries earlier to collect four stones representing the four basic elements.
A few hundred years later, a huge ball of molten lava and flame hurtles toward Earth, and scientist-holy man Victor Cornelius declares that the four elemental stones must be combined with the fifth element embodied by a visitor from another world named Leeloo.
Leeloo, with her remarkable powers, chooses her accomplice, military leader-turned-cab driver Korben Dallas, to help prevent the force of evil from destroying the Earth.
The movie is directed by Luc Besson, who began writing the script when he was 16 years old, with a PG13 rating and genres including action, adventure, fantasy, science fiction, and thriller.
