Film Three…Extremes (2004)

Film “Three…Extremes” released in 2004 features segments directed by Asian filmmakers from Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan. The first segment, “Dumplings,” directed by Fruit Chan, tells the story of a woman who consumes rejuvenating dumplings with a dark secret ingredient. The second segment, “Cut,” by Park Chan-wook, follows a filmmaker faced with a moral dilemma involving his wife. The final segment, “Box,” directed by Takashi Miike, explores themes of trauma and haunting.

The film was showcased at the New York Asian Film Festival in 2005. For the American release, the order of the segments was rearranged. The movie’s predecessor, “Three,” was later retitled “Three…Extremes II” for the English market. The film carries an MPAA rating of R and falls under the horror genre.
