Innovative Collaboration: Halle Bailey to Shine in Pharrell Williams and Michel Gondry’s Musical Masterpiece
Halle Bailey set to join Universal Pictures’ untitled Pharrell Williams and Michel Gondry project.
Bailey will co-star opposite Kelvin Harrison Jr. and joins Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph in a coming-of-age musical set in 1977 Virginia Beach.
Michel Gondry to direct the project based on a script by Martin Hynes and Steven Levenson.
Williams and Valdés will produce through i am OTHER and Gil Netter through Gil Netter Productions.
Universal’s Ryan Jones and Christine Sun will oversee the project for the studio.
In 2023, Bailey led Disney’s live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” and received critical acclaim.
She also starred in Blitz Bazawule’s “The Color Purple” and in TV show “Grown-ish.”
Bailey is a singer, half of duo Chloe x Halle, released her solo single “Angel” last year.
She earned a Grammy nomination for best R&B song and is represented by CAA.
