Kevin Spacey Lands Role as ‘The Devil’ in Italian Thriller ‘The Contract’

Kevin Spacey is set to portray “The Devil” in the Italian thriller “The Contract” directed by Massimo Paolucci. The film recently finished shooting in Rome with actors Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano onboard.

Spacey’s return to acting follows past controversies, including sexual misconduct allegations. However, he was found not liable in a lawsuit and not guilty in a U.K. sexual assault trial. He will also star in the indie thriller “Peter Five Eight,” alongside Rebecca de Mornay, releasing in the U.S. on March 22.

In “The Contract,” Spacey’s character “The Devil” draws parallels to iconic roles played by Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in other films. Producers Caroletti and Lazzarini took eight months to convince Spacey to take on this challenging role, which intrigued the actor.

Director Paolucci’s filmography includes works like “All in One Day,” “Medium,” and “Photoshock.” Spacey also took on roles in other projects like “The Man Who Drew God” and provided voiceover for “Control,” marking his resurgence in the acting world after a hiatus following the controversies.
