Paris Olympics: Opening Ceremony Under Unprecedented Security on Seine River

Paris Olympics: Unprecedented Security for Opening Ceremony

With geopolitical tensions high, Paris Olympics organizers plan the opening ceremony along the Seine River on July 26, amid France’s highest security alert level.

President Macron stated there could be a relocation depending on circumstances with backup plans already in place, including using the Stade de France as an alternate venue.

The original plans, organized by Tony Estanguet, include 10,500 athletes parading on boats, but the itinerary may be shortened due to security concerns.

Security measures for the event involve tens of thousands of police and military personnel, as well as private security and state services to ensure safety.

Fallback plans include the Trocadero area or the Stade de France for the opening ceremony if needed, showcasing France’s resilience after past challenges.

The competitions will take place at various iconic landmarks in Paris and other cities across France, with a projected attendance of three to four million people.
