Paws for Success: ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ Dominates China Box Office in Lackluster Debut

Paws for Success: ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ opened on top of the China box office, but had a lackluster start. The film grossed $25.9 million, lower than its predecessor Kung Fu Panda 3.

Unlike Kung Fu Panda 3, the latest installment is considered a foreign picture in China. Meanwhile, Taiwanese crime film “The Pig, The Snake and the Pigeon” took second place with $84.6 million since its release in March.

Legendary East’s “Dune 2” came in third place with $44.2 million after three weeks. Upcoming release, “Viva La Vida,” previewed at fourth place with $16.6 million in earnings.

“Remember Me” fell to fifth place with $12.2 million in total earnings after ten days. The weekend box office in China totaled $39.5 million, maintaining a 5% lead over the same period in 2023.
