Ryan Reynolds and Paramount Pictures: A Long-Term Partnership for Maximum Effort Productions

Ryan Reynolds and Paramount Pictures have extended their first-look development deal for Maximum Effort Productions. The three-year pact will continue until December 2026. The agreement covers motion picture development for all projects, regardless of budget.

Reynolds will star in and produce “Boy Band,” with Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps also producing. Paramount and Maximum Effort are also developing “Starter Villain” and an adaptation of “Eloise” with partner MRC. Reynolds will also produce and star in the Paramount family film “If,” opening on May 17.

The pact’s extension comes as Paramount Global has become an acquisition target. Maximum Effort co-founders George Dewey, Ashley Fox, and Johnny Pariseau oversee the day-to-day operations. Brian Robbins, Paramount Pictures president and CEO, praised the creativity and innovative thinking displayed by Reynolds and Dewey.

Reynolds expressed his excitement at continuing the partnership, emphasizing the alignment with Paramount’s commitment to bringing original films to theaters. He stated, “The purpose of our company is to bring people together. We can’t wait to do more of it with the first-class team at Paramount.”
