Stephen King Questions Warner Bros’ Decision to Delay ‘Salem’s Lot’ Remake: “It’s Quite Good”

Stephen King questions Warner Bros’ decision to delay the release of ‘Salem’s Lot’. The remake of King’s 1975 horror novel about vampires was shot in 2021 but has yet to be released. King described the movie as “quite good” and criticized the delay on social media.

Last year, King had mentioned that the movie was “currently shelved” and praised it as “muscular and involving” with the “feel of ‘Old Hollywood'”. Warner Bros. reportedly considered releasing the movie directly on its streaming service, Max, due to the growing need for content created by the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Director Gary Dauberman has a close relationship with Warner Bros. as the writer of the studio’s “It” movies and several “Annabelle” films. The remake features a star-studded cast including Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbaek, Alfre Woodard, and William Sadler, with James Wan as a producer. Warner Bros. is yet to comment on the situation.
