Talk to Me”: Award-Winning Horror Film by Philippou Brothers Takes Australia by Storm

“Talk to Me,” the horror film by Philippou Brothers, won five AACTA Industry Awards, including best screenplay and best editing in film. “The New Boy” collected two awards for best cinematography and best design. TV productions such as “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart,” “Deadloch,” and “The Australian Wars” dominated the television categories, each winning three prizes.
“The Newsreader” was the most nominated TV production and won the best direction in drama or comedy award. However, hit comedy “Colin From Accounts” and “Bay of Fires” left empty-handed.

The AACTA Industry Awards focus on excellence in screen craft across film, television, documentary, short film, and digital production. The award ceremonies are held at the Home of the Arts (HOTA) in Gold Coast, Queensland.

“Talk to Me” was a breakout hit, premiering at the 2022 Adelaide festival and making a splash at Sundance in January 2023. It garnered attention and was picked up for North American release by A24, earning over $90 million on a budget of $4.5 million.
