Twisted Illusions: Josh Hartnett Stars as a Serial Killer in M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Trap’ Trailer

Warner Bros. has released the trailer for M. Night Shyamalan‘s latest mystery thriller “Trap,” starring Josh Hartnett, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills and Marnie McPhail.

According to the official logline, “Trap” follows a “father and teen daughter attending a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.” The film’s first look was screened at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

In the trailer, Hartnett’s character and his daughter, Jody, are at a concert of pop star Lady Raven. When Hartnett runs off to the bathroom, he sees a heavy police presence there to catch a serial killer. The twist is that Hartnett is the killer they are looking for.

In addition to CinemaCon, the “Trap” trailer was teased at an event in Los Angeles called “The Summer of Shyamalan,” where the director spoke about the film and also about “The Watchers,” a project produced by him. The pop star in “Trap” is played by his daughter, Saleka, who is a singer-songwriter.

Shyamalan mentioned the appeal of telling the story of “Trap” from the perspective of an unexpected person. He incorporates dark humor in his films like “Servant,” “The Visit,” and “Split,” highlighting the balance between terror and humor that he enjoys.

Shyamalan praised casting Hartnett, noting the actor’s willingness to fully immerse himself in the roles he takes on. He values actors who can surrender themselves to the story and create a truly electrifying performance.

“Trap” is scheduled for release on Aug. 9. The trailer promises a suspenseful and twisted tale with Josh Hartnett at the center of the chilling narrative.
